Friday Blog

My Holocaust book is called "The Devil's Arithmetic" by Jane Yolen. It's about a girl named Hannah and her family. Hannah is a thirteen year old girl. Who is Jewish. Her family and her celebrate Jewish holidays together. During this time they celebrate passover. It is like a feast but, they also do a service like pray and stuff. Most Jewish holidays are about remembering. Remembering those who lost loved ones and died. The upstanders are also remembered. Hannah is like in some sort of dream kind of like back in the past. Her uncle is getting married they are soon on a truck crowded as Hannah says "all crushed together, like cattle going to be slaughtered for the market." Hannah knows what's going on and what's going to happen to them, but no one will listen to her!

I personally think that this book is amazing, but also confusing at the same time! It's really interesting. It will not let me stop reading! When I first started reading it I read up to like chapter three! I was only supposed to read chapter one and two! But, yes this book is really interesting.
