I personally believe that most people were bystanders, not because they wanted to but because of the influences. Like how the slaves for so many years were told they were worthless and bad but they weren't. It's because if you continually tell someone or do something to someone for so long they'll get used to it or even start to believe it. What inspired people to stand up was the Upstander before them. The ones who did make a huge difference and eventually hurt or killed. Basically they are role models. Some people felt bad and decided to stand up. I honestly don't know, because I would never imagine, actually my brain would not let me imagine something as terrible as The Holocaust. I would probably be a bystander. Not because I want to but I would be too afraid to stick up and put my whole family in danger. Ye, probably I would take in someone but that's about it. I do feel really bad, but I would not want to hurt my family.
So far in my social studies class with my teacher Ms. Belkov we have been learning about The Holocaust and what happened, why it happened, and the types of people. The Holocaust was a very horrific time in the world. Honestly the first time I heard of The Holocaust or the killing of Jews for no reason I cried. I was about 8, and I still understood. I understood it was wrong. It hurt my mind to think someone could do that! It's very terrible! I feel really bad for those lost, and those who lost loved ones. It really hurts me to think something like this would happen. I can't wrap my head around it. Poor innocent Jews. Ok, but we learned that Adolf Hitler was the criminal who started this! It sickens me to the pitt of my stomach! Adolf Hitler had a group or a religion called Nazism or short Nazi. Being a Nazi meant to hate and discriminate against Jews or anti-semitism. Adolf Hitler had concentration camps and death camps. The Nazis used the term The final solution to mean the extinction or the purge of all Jewish people.
